Story

Keeping the modern world online!

Greenergy Data Centers was founded in Estonia – the most advanced digital society in the world – in 2020.

Although by that time Estonia had built an efficient, secure and transparent digital ecosystem where 99% of governmental services are online, grown multiple technology unicorns (start-ups valued over 1 billion), it still lacked a proper purpose-built data center. To be more precise the Eastern and Central Europe as a whole lacked sustainable and reliable data centers. To the founders of Greenergy, this fact was unacceptable.

This led to action

With the support of the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund Greenergy Data Centers acquired MCF Group Estonia which had come across the same problem and was already building a world-class data center in Tallinn. By joining forces, they merged the best knowledge in technology, management skills, highly qualified workforce, and resources to raise the largest and most power-efficient data center in the Baltic region.

The first data center is meant to strengthen the success story of e-Estonia and its digitally savvy neighbours. It also opens the door to colocation export on an international scale.

Moreover, the Greenergy Data Centers will not stop there. The long-term vision of the company is to enable digital growth by building a network of sustainable data centers in the Central and Eastern Europe.

The guiding principles on
this important journey are:

RELIABLE

At GDC, the protection of your IT equipment is guaranteed thanks to multi-layered security systems both on the premises of the data center and within the building. The center has round-the-clock armed surveillance, several hundred cameras, and security zones with different levels. All visitors must go through personal identification and can only access the rooms that have been designated for them. The control center of the building is at the service of customers 24/7.

The reliability of your IT equipment is ensured by redundant electrical and cooling systems that are regularly maintained and tested. As the data center is neutral with respect to connectivity service providers, you can use the capabilities of several different partners at the same time.

EFFICIENT

The goal is the efficient operation of your IT equipment and the smallest possible ecological footprint. GDC aims to achieve a full-load PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of less than 1.2. This means that for every kilowatt-hour that goes directly to the operation of your IT equipment, less than 20% is added to ensure the cooling, connectivity, security, and reliability of the devices. In 2021, the corresponding global figure was 57%, on average. This means that the support systems of GDC consume almost three times less electricity.

SUSTAINABLE

At GDC, your devices are powered only by electricity from renewable energy sources. The residual heat generated from the operation of IT equipment is reused for heating the office building of the data center and for preheating some technical equipment. The data center is designed and built in such a way that residual heat can also be dispatched from our building, for example to heat nearby residential buildings.

CUSTOMER-FOCUSED

At GDC, you will find a solid basis for your IT infrastructure as well as a solid collaboration relationship focusing on business continuity. Here, you will not need to worry about whether the electrical or cooling capacities are sufficient, whether the security systems are reliable enough, or whether there is room for expansion. You will always be served by experienced specialists, with whose assistance, custom solutions suitable for you will be devised in the case of large-scale projects (also taking into account the interests of other customers).

The day-to-day operation of the data center is based on the convenience of the customer without compromising on security, efficiency, and sustainability.

We do not know what the bright future has in store for us, but we sure are ready to host it!
